Kenfair International Limited ("Kenfair International" or "the Group") (HKSE Code: 223) is a renowned exhibitions organiser in Hong Kong. Since the Group started in 1991, it has been closely following to its mission – to act as "the gateway to achieve business opportunities". With its 15-year history, Kenfair International has now grown to become an all-round trade services provider in the region and beyond – from exhibition organisation through trade publications, online sourcing portal to business travel services.
Kenfair International's flagship event is an annual twin-fair, named as "Hong Kong International Toys & Gifts Show" and "Asian Gifts Premium & Household Products" (also collectively known as "Mega Show Part 1"). Since its debut in Oct 1992, the sourcing extravaganza has been growing year by year. The event marked a significant milestone in 2002 when it received the prestigious "UFI-Approved Events" recognition from the Global Association of Exhibition Industry (UFI) of the exhibitions industry. The 2006 twin-fair, showcasing enormous toys, gifts, premium and household exhibits from 5,500 Asian suppliers, once again lived up to its claim as one of the most effective sourcing platform in Asia, which attracted over 70,000 buyers across the world.
To accommodate the huge sourcing demands during the prime-October period, Kenfair International launched the "Mega Show Part 2" in 2003. This show has gathered momentum as the best conclusion to the global big buyers' year-end sourcing trip to the Asia Pacific. The fair is also enlisted as a "UFI-Approved Event" by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI). In its 2006 edition, a new specialised product zone - "Table Object Asia" - was introduced to hold concurrently with "Mega Show Part 2" with an aim to showcase the best Asian tableware products to buyers in a destined area.
The Group has also stretched out to cover a wider exhibiting theme at the inaugural Hong Kong Spring Fair, being the city's first-ever trade fair for light industry products, in January 2006. In 2007, the fair continues to charm the trade by bringing 442 Asian manufacturers together to host 559 booths.
Meanwhile, the year 2006 also saw the first-ever Hong Kong International Furniture Fair brought by the collaboration effort of Kenfair International and Hong Kong Trade Development Council ("HKTDC"). With the success of its debut in October 2006, the vision of creating an elite event for good quality, design-focused products was realised. The event is expected to grow further in this year.
Apart from local trade fairs, the Group also organises a number of overseas shows under the "Asia Expo" series. The first "Asia Expo" inaugurated in February 2001 in London to cater the demand for top-quality yet competitively-priced Asian products in Europe. Perfectly timed to coincide with other large scale trade fairs in the neighbouring cities, "Asia Expo" quickly established itself as a must-visit trade show for the big buyers from the U.K., France, Italy, Spain and Germany, etc. Its achievement also earned it acclaim as a "UFI-Approved Event" of the exhibitions industry in October 2003.
In 2005, the Group further staged the "Asia Expo" series on the rising Eastern Europe market. Given its advantageous location and convenient transportation, Warsaw, the capital city of Poland, was tactfully chosen as the host city. Now in June every year, "Asia Expo – Poland" continues to bridge between Asian manufacturers and Eastern European buyers.
Looking ahead, the Group will launch "Asian Jewellery Expo, London" in January 2008. The show is introduced to cater the growing demand for Asian jewellery in the global market as well as to help the suppliers alike tap the lucrative European market and the limitless opportunities.
The international buyers are not only sourcing from trade exhibitions nowadays, but also from various "off-fair" media. As such, Kenfair International launched a trade publication and an online sourcing portal since October 2002 to better suit the market trends.
Dubbed <<MegAsia>>, the Group's tri-annual magazine is published in every February, June and October to coincide with the peak sourcing periods. Each issue features hundreds of pages of product advertisements from Hong Kong and Asian SMEs, plus a wealth of cover stories, in-depth company profiles, industry news, highlighted product parades and trade show reports, etc. Starting from October 2004, <<MegAsia>> is also released in electronic formats (on CD-ROM and online at www.kenfair.com) to boost the magazine's worldwide exposure.
Kenfair International also revamped its internet portal, www.kenfair.com, to a full-fledged and professional e-sourcing platform that aims at providing a 24-hour non-stop trade platform for the Group's exhibitors and international buyers.
Kenfair Travel Limited, a travel-arm subsidiary for the Group, was set up in May 2003 to provide one-stop travel services, including travel arrangement, air ticketing, hotel booking and tour packages, etc. Kenfair Travel has been effectively catering every travel need of the exhibitors and buyers attending all Kenfair's trade shows.
In a nutshell, Kenfair International is thriving on its mission to serve Asian suppliers and international trade buyers by fulfilling its pledge to act as "the gateway to achieve business opportunities".
