Kai Rong Industrial Co., Ltd.
Rolling out the magnetic magic
The constant need of buyers: to find new and innovative products which catch the eye quickly. This is especially true for those engaging in giftware and premium business. The novelty market offers plenty of scope for new ideas, be it a new invention, adaptation of a new technology, or a new twist on an old favourite.
Specialising in forging that twist into the conventional rubber/plastic magnetic tapes, the Taiwan-based Kai Rong Industrial Co., Ltd. has been commanding a leading role in this niche market since 1977. According to Mr. Alden Wu, president of Kai Rong, the company has accumulated over 60 categories of magnetic products in a wide spectrum of functions, shapes and designs.
The comprehensive magnetic collections serve a huge number of applications, targeting the premium, advertising, houseware, teaching aids and packaging industries. Customers can definitely find the right magnetic supplies at Kai Rong to suit their every need.
Alike other traditional magnetic tapes manufacturers, Kai Rong started its business by producing usual magnetic novelties such as rubber magnets attached on refrigerators and alphabet-shaped magnets for teaching purpose. However, soon after a couple of years of operation, the company made a breakthrough by introducing PVC-based magnetic prints for advertising boards.
"The new invention was well-received as an highly effective promotional tool in big events like the US football league. It helped broaden our customer base in the advertising sector. More importantly, the application of magnetic products was stretched beyond its tradition," recalls Mr. Wu. It also marked the beginning of Kai Rong's non-stop magical twist on magnetic products.
First came the introduction of neatly-cut rubber magnets incorporating the VELCRO (the hook-and-loop fasteners) technology for handbooks, gift packs and cosmetic boxes, replacing the old-fashioned packaging with buttons; anisotropic injection molding coil magnets for motor engines and sewing machines; rolled rubber magnets that allow infinite extension in length; magnetic photo papers for printers, etc. These are just a few to name.
"We pour in new ideas constantly, from the products' design outlook to its application as well as the technology used in the production process. This is the way we revitalise ourselves in a long-standing business and to realise our mission: providing the optimal magnetic products to our customers, thus bringing them sustainable success," Mr. Wu states.
The latest excitement of Kai Rong's magnetic collection is the "3+ charming magnetic tape". Using the state-of-the-art technology, the newly-developed magnetic tapes render exceptional convenience for daily uses. With its ruler-grid design, users could split the tape in any preferred length by hand safely with no difficulties.
"Moreover, the new colour-encoding technology also enables the magnetic tapes to come out in an abundant choice of colours, no more confined by the mono black-coloured design of the old days. The vivid colours will surely raise the visual impact to consumers and add extra values to the magnetic tapes," furthers Mr. Wu.
Kai Rong's innovation has gained prestigious recognition internationally. In the International of Inventions of Geneva, a well-represented invention exhibition held in April this year, Kai Rong's 3+ charming magnetic tape stood out among other innovative products from over 45 countries. An international jury made up of 70 specialists selected the product as the winner of the Silver Award and Romanian Special Award.
Adding to that honour are the prizes of Golden Award and Special Korean Award received at the Invention & New Product Exposition (INPEX) in Pittsburgh of US. INPEX is a trade show dedicated to showcasing new and innovative products for industry representatives. The 3+ charming tape's cutter-free design was highly appreciated by the industry specialists and buyers alike.
Other than being innovative, product safety accounts for another essential measurement in the magnetic market. Mr. Wu emphasises that Kai Rong only imports high-quality materials for its production.
"The material we use are proved to be environmental-friendly. Our magnetic products manage to pass the stringent tests against the eight poisonous heavy metals taken by the US and European Union authorities. The quantity of toxic chemicals contained in our magnets is also tightly controlled to meet the international standards."
"This is the fundamental way to ensure that our products are of the best quality. On top of this, our research and development team will keep rolling out creative and innovative magnetic products, creating the best magnetic magic for our modern living," Mr. Wu says.
