It was 1978 when Qayyum Exports started in India. As a family business, Mr. Arshad had the honour to work with his father H. Abdul Qayyum �C a pioneer of exports in the region after finishing his education. Specialising in floor coverings from its start, Qayyum Exports is renowned for carpets made of wool, silk, cotton, jute, viscose as well as other natural materials.

Qayyum Exports' office and factory are both based in India. The factory employs only the best locals while providing the good source of incoming, including the weavers who have been serving the company for over 20 years. "These dedicated employees, together with 3,500 looms we currently own, enable is to cope with large production capacities, which is crucial for our carpeting business," Mr. Arshad commented. Over the years the company ahs gradually evolved into a more dynamic carpet manufacturer aiming to serve clients with different home furnishing needs. "We have started producing hand tufted woolen carpets. They are now available in modern designs, or patterns with an oriental twist," Mr. Arshad explained. He also mentioned that there are advantages that come with producing these carpets �C production-wise, they are not as time consuming in comparison to hand knotted ones even though they possess the same appearance. Also, because the cost of production for these newly invented carpets is not as high, more consumers, particularly the younger ones can afford them.

Other than developing new product lines, Qayyum Exports also makes great effort to ensure that its factory and the products manufactured are up-to-date and constantly evolving. "Over the course of its development, Qayyum Exports has successfully improved many aspects of the overall production process. For instance, we have invested much effort to upgrade our yarn dyeing techniques, raw materials testing, finishing of the products, as well as our packing materials" said Mr. Arshad, who strongly pushes ahead with his desire to make the company become the best it can be.
