Nowadays people of all walks of life become more and more aware of the importance of maintaining good health and physical fitness. Amidst their busy work day or study, they would squeeze some time doing such exercises as Yoga and Pilates to keep fit or just to unwind. A wholesome lifestyle for body and mind wellness is widely pursued across the globe. Capitalising on this trend, Getter Power Company Limited is dedicated to rolling out a plethora of fitness products to satisfy every need of the ever-increasing fitness enthusiasts.
The Hong Kong-based Getter Power Company Limited specialises in the production of equipments, gadgets and accessories for Pilates, cross training and in particular, Yoga products. “Our company has a long production history in China. But we only started off our operation in Hong Kong five years ago to take full advantage of the city as a top international trading hub to further expand our global reach,” says Miss Sammi Chan, the marketing manager of Getter Power.
“At the early days of our business, we mainly manufactured a rubber product called resistance bands made of a kind raw material called TPR,” says Miss Chan. Then, Getter Power expanded to manufacture a wider range of sports and fitness products.
Getter Power runs a large scale factory in Zhanjiang, China. “Our factory is equipped with advanced automatic production line equipments. As a company emphasizing corporate responsibility, we provide our staff with excellent working environment and facilities, enough open space and greenery,” says Miss Chan with a proud smile.
At Getter Power’s showroom, one can easily spot the overwhelmingly wide varieties of products. Ranging from body band series, weight ball series, down to the Yoga mats, gloves and socks, all are the specially-made products by Getter Power.
According to Miss Chan, the Yoga equipments and gears form the most important product lines for Getter Power. “There are many different colours and patterns, and with different materials. We also come up with some innovative products. For example, we have Yoga gloves, mats and socks specially designed for practicing Yoga during travel,” says Miss Chan.
Currently, most of Getter Power’s products are of OEM nature. Among them, the most popular are the jumping ropes. “Our products are very popular in the US, Germany, Belgium and other European countries. We also sell them to Taiwan and China,” Miss Chan reveals.
To further increase the popularity and marketability of its products, Getter Power continues to “drill” and make improvements through collecting customers’ feedback. “When there is any new product development, we closely track with our customers’ ideas and feedback. Then, we try to incorporate and integrate the inputs in the production process,” says Miss Chan.

Miss Chan continues to share an unforgettable experience with a French customer. “This client brought his own design of an innovative hand grip. The design was really stunningly impressive. But if we just fully followed his ideas, the hand grip turned out to be so thin and fragile that it might break easily. Through our frank and constructive discussions, we came up with a modified design. In the end, the whole product made a successful launch,” says Miss Chan. The product is a joint-effort by Getter Power and the French customer. Since then, they have established a sound and close business partnership.
A well-managed production is essential to rolling out the high quality Yoga, Pilates and fitness-related products. “Our sizable factory houses around 100 workers who are industrious and loyal to the company. We provide workers with good compensation and welfare. These in turn result in low staff turnover rate, thus ensuring our steady workflow, on-time delivery and high-quality output,” boasts the marketing manager.
Getter Power implements strict quality control all along the production processes. “Experienced production supervisors check carefully the products before distribution and shipments. Moreover, we do the lab tests in-house to ensure all our products to meet the requirements by different countries,” says Miss Chan.
Apart from the US and European customers, Getter Power now eyes the Japanese as well as the Indian markets. “We really want to get into Japan. It has been a market which demands stringent product standard. But I am confident that our sophisticated products can win over this market,” says Miss Chan. The Yoga products should be a perfect match with the Indian market. “Not only does India have a huge population, but it is also the origin of Yoga. With Yoga being compulsory for all school children in the country, I think we can make it,” she continues.

On the future trend for Yoga, Pilates as well as other fitness gears, Miss Chan says that all products will need to be more appealing in appearance and colour. “Our jumping ropes best exemplify the changing trend. In the past, wooden hand grips were very common and proved good enough. Nowadays, as customers become more demanding, we need to change the appearance and packaging for the same products,” elaborates Miss Chan. “Moreover, we have to tune ourselves in line with the growing awareness in environmental protection. Just like PVC-made products which are no longer accepted in Europe. We have to use ‘environmental’ materials to manufacture products targeting at these markets,” Miss Chan continues.
Talking about the future plans for the company, Miss Chan tells MegAsia, “It is important for us to keep an effective cost control. Then, to further expand our customer base, we have plans to showcase our products in more international trade fairs.” |
