Then, Kam Ho Fung also works on many OEM orders. “These OEM orders are of great value because they help us better understand the market and what lies ahead in terms of customers’ ever-changing taste,” Ms Zheng said.

Currently, Kam Ho Fung operates an office in Hong Kong, with 200 workers in its factory located in Shantou, China. “Our office in Hong Kong handles the administrative and customer service front of our business. Moreover, this office serves as a showroom where our customers come to look at our plush dolls before placing orders,” Ms Zheng tells of the company operation.

How does Kam Ho Fung get its plush toys noticed in the global market? Ms Zheng is a great believer in advertising and trade fair promotion. She stressed, “Advertising is and always has been a prime medium for us to reach our customers. We have been advertising in a number of major trade magazines for quite some time and over the years they have generated a lot of exposure for our products. We even have long-lost customers getting in touch with us after seeing our advertisements in those magazines!”

While making itself visible and accessible by advertising, Kam Ho Fung has also been an active participant in major trade shows held in Hong Kong. “These trade events certainly make an effective platform for us to meet our old and new customers. Kenfair’s Hong Kong Spring Fair in January, for instance, is another new fair we are looking forward to getting new business opportunities,” Ms Zheng continued.

The very designs of Kam Ho Fung’s renowned plush dolls are left to the magic hands of its team of talented designers, who work to turn design drafts into real, life-like plush dolls.

Fresh product ideas and inspirations are usually generated by visits to trade shows, where the in-house designers gather the latest market trends. “For sure, by visiting trade shows, our designers are able to broaden their horizon and get a better idea on what our customers are looking for today,” Ms Zheng emphasised the importance of keeping up-to-date with customers’ wants and market changes.

Kam Ho Fung’s determination to provide customers with just the right products has earned the company a reputation as a reliable and flexible business partner. Over the years the company has managed to form a solid customer base where many repeat orders keep coming. According to Ms Zheng, customers have been relying on Kam Ho Fung whenever Christmas is approaching. She stated, “These customers of ours having been ordering Christmas products from us for years – those plush dolls have been our bestsellers for as long as I can remember. I think it has a lot to do with our product quality and marketability, as well as our reliability as a business partner.”

Ms Zheng believes that despite the changed market trend, plush dolls will continue to make a special appeal to most children’s hearts. “The key is to create dolls with more exciting and new elements – even small ones can make a big difference,” said Ms Zheng, reiterating her passion to bring great plush fun to the kids.
