to be! The city has more bars and cafes than any other European
city, and the 24-hour entertainment is reserved for party animals
of all ages. Beer festivals are also a common treat in Berlin.
Dining
Visitors are often spoiled for choice when it comes
to dining in Germany. Tradition and contemporary German foods are
featured on the buffet style menu at 24 hour cafes, including sausages,
buttery eggs, sauerkraut and schnitzels with an extensive list of
delicious juices and thirst-crunching beers..
Tipping Advice
Restaurant and hotel bills are generally subject
to service charges. However, tipping is unnecessary in some smaller
cafes and bars and it is standard practice to round up the bill
to the nearest Deutschmark.
Transportation
Germany has the best railway network in Europe and
traveling to and from Berlin by train is convenient. Berlin can
also be reached by road and air.
Arriving by Air
Berlin is served by the Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL).
Getting Around Berlin
Berlin is relatively small in size and visitors
can walk to most tourist attractions. The efficient and reliable
public transport system includes trams, buses and underground trains.
However, hiring taxis and cars is simple in Berlin. Traffic jams
can be expected during peak hours.
